Doing the winter jobs and going to replace the distributor on my standard 4.0. Does anyone have a recommendation for an easy swap over and a better unit ?

Thanks

David

Worth a look. Its fully electronic and is mappable.

but only worth a punt if a new standard unit is near the same price and you are going to replace it anyway.

The seller Simonbbc, appears to be selling a good range of electrical components, at very competitive prices. There are good and not so good reports about his stuff on the Wedge Forum, but I am needing to replace mine on my 350i and I will most likely be buying one off him.
Cheers

Previously had 3 fuel pumps from this seller - all failed very quickly ie days & each replaced with similar rubbish - pays yer money. Avoid, better bargains to be had.

Seems to have some play in the shaft over and above the movement built in.
Seems to give erratic Timing at tick over.
I have good leads , new plugs coil and amp. Engine totally rebuilt 1500 miles ago.

Pick yourself up a S/H Land Rover one and I believe you have to swap the advance and retard mechanisms.

Probably too late now as you seem to have found the problem, but I seem to recall this guy being mentioned as quite good with Lucas;
