Yesterday took my Chimaera to have the final approval to import the car into Sweden.

If anyone else is planning on doing the same its a bit of a process, but if you remember to do somethings in advance you will save yourself some money and time.

1 Remember to take registration document from the seller with you to Sweden, VERY important that the person you buy the car off does not send it back to DVLA, nightmare to get it back from DVLA. I was lucky to get it sent here to Sweden.

2 Change headlights to LHD.

3 Change around fog lamp with reverse light

4 Pay around £300 for all paperwork to be completed and you should be done.

5 Remember here in Sweden you have to have winter tyres from November until March so a good idea to find a set of second hand rims in England so you can buy winter tyres here and just swap the wheels from winter to summer already with tyres on.

Just a quick thanks to all the people on this forum with the help so I could do the jobs needed:-)

Thats nothng mate ! im having problems with DVLA, sent my Log book in with the CC change from 4l to 5l and they have sent me so much paperwork you can`t believe..

Tried to explain my 5l is the same but components are different ..

Why do they make it so complicated?

They want all sorts of reports from different organisations . costing even more money.

Paul, you chaps in Scandinavia have an enviable reputation for driving cars extremely competently (and very quickly) in conditions most of us in the UK wouldn't even consider venturing out in. Apologies in advance if I'm teaching you to 'suck eggs', but FFS be carefull driving a Tiv in the winter where you live, winter tyres or not. And congrats on getting the car home thumbup

Hi Paul,
Congrats on getting your car into Sweden, it will go down a bundle over there. If you are in Malmo I guess you will be factoring in toll fees for the beautiful Oresund bridge, a fantastic example of Scandanavian thinking, combining wonderful architecture, amazing engineering, fantastic views, a 4 mile tunnel run and access to relatively "cheaper" Danish beer, who could ask for more. Fortunately looking at your profile I think you are in the right business in Sweden drink to fund the fees.
Enjoy your car
Barrie

I live in Sweden in the winter and in the summer in the island of Crete, I also have a nightclub which is my summer fun in the sun.

So I will take the Tvr to Hamburg in about 3 weeks put it on the train to get me over the Alps into Italy then I will drive to Ancona, take ferry to Patras Greece and then work my way down to Crete for the summer.

I think well I am sure I will have the only TVR in Crete :-)

I will remove the roof on arrival and then put it back when come back to Sweden in October.

So my summer will be fun with my TVR :-)

Well the recession here does not seem to have hit, people are shopping just the same as before. I think if you have a job here you don't notice the European recession. In Greece there is definitely a recession due to corrupt government, but in the tourist businesses we don't see it, only feel it as the cost of doing business has risen at least 29% in less than 2years, you know utilies are more expensive our taxes have risen dramatically. The tourists don't see it, we just suck it up as businesses.
