Anyone who has changed the unit, do I need an adapter for the TVR wires into a new head unit ?

Yup and you won't find one *ANYWHERE*...

The original head unit has a connector crimped onto it - for Gods sake don't lose it! When I did mine (at one of my dealers places as he also has a car HiFi business as well) we cut that connector off the old head unit, used an off-the-shelf ISO-Plug-to-bare-ends adapter from Autoleads and made up an interface cable that goes between any "modern" head unit with ISO connectors and the TVR loom (which I *THINK* uses a Rover connector).

My 2000 car has ISO connectors so my new one just plugged right in.

OK - mine's a '94 so I guess they must have changed the loom then at some point... biggrin

Odd - my '94 still had what I believe was the factory fit Sony CD changer head unit in it and that had a short loom on the back that terminated in some rather old fashioned looking multiple-round-pinned connector assembly...

Took it apart tonight to fit a new unit and it has the ISO connectors so all works good. On the aeriel cable on the car it has the regular socket plus a red wire spade connector, anyone know what this is and does it have to be connected to something ?

It was connected to the old radio.

It needs connecting to the remote output wire (blue) to power the antenna. Most modern head units have a bullet connector for this purpose. I cut it off and put a female spade on.

Great that works fine thanks.
Before I put it all back in one last question. Is it easy to give it a permanent live. ie no need to have the ignition on ?

I don't see why not other than it will risk the battery going flat. You will need to disconnect the switched live and link a cable to the permanent live. Should be easy as most head units have bullet connectors on the two lives to enable swapping on some cars where the supplies are reversed.
