Got car started and warmed up and moving off to take advantage of the glorious weather when I stalled the engine (trying to keep it quiet and not enough revs) It then would not start, pump primes but nothing else, engine does not turn over. Its a fairly new starter motor and I have the hot start kit fitted but it was not hot enough to be that. Any ideas?

Possibly just the battery that is low.
Mine was like that last week once it had had a bit of charge it started straight away.
I had fuel pump priming and lights, just not enough juice to turn the starter.

I don't think it's the battery as it has been well charged and started easily just before. It does not even try to turn over. I think it's more like the imobiliser but don't know enough about it.

Thanks Hamish, that thread sounds very like my problem, I'll stick my head in the passenger footwell tomorrow morning.

Just cured this too...

Replaced the starter and she spun up first time.

Tried her again and nothing.

Fuel pump fires on first turn of key, waited for the immobiliser light to go out, turn key all the way and nothing.

Dragged out the battery and behind it found two random black (earth) wires secured together by a bolt. The connections and bolt were pretty rusty so I pulled it all apart cleaned up the connectors and put in a fresh bolt.

She now starts 1st time EVERY time.

Bad earth is bad news..

HTH.

Thanks Hamish and Jim but it turned out to be the starter solenoid stuck. Gave the solenoid a tap and it has been fine since.
