Can some one tell me the inlet and outlet hose sizes ,Could anyone tell me what the standard fuel pump is capable of handling ,is it at its max at 340hp,i would like to upgrade the pump but been told the cables need upgrading .

Is there anything between the standard pump and the 044 ..i want to keep away from the Chinese pumps.
What is the little black box under the pump for ,looked in the bible and it`s rubbish ,tells me nothing or very little ?
This could be another job under my belt.confused

If its the small black thing that has a wire going to one pump terminal then its a capacitor to reduce sparking in the pump.

The short hose going in looks very big then the pipe going out to the filter is larger than the pipe from the filter to the copper pipe.

This is the the item you need, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bosch-0580-254-044-uprat...
To get the best from the pump you`ll need the full unrestricted gravity flow to the pump from the tank, hense the larger inlet but be carefull as alot of inlet adapters
actually restrict it even smaller!Thats why i`ve had to renew my pump supply all the way back into the tank

Why do you think the fuel supply is inadequate?

Really? I thought it was a supressor to stop it killing the radio reception (what bit you get).

The new ECU that's going on there doesn't have a capacitor to earth at the fuel pump end ...

... and to be quite honest, if there was any arcing / sparking going on inside the fuel pump I'd be getting concerned. biggrin

Maybe not the same type of pump but the original E type Jag I had in the early 70's had the pump motor immersed in the tank with the petrol acting as a coolant. The pump was made by Lucas! PS the brushes of the motor ran in the petrol.
