Best glue for boot carpet ?

The carpet fixed to the underside of my boot lid has come adrift. I've tried using 'liquid nails' and this has worked on some areas, however it does not seem that strong, particulary around the edges.

Can anyone recommend a better adhesive for this. Seems to need something strong with a fast grab / dry time, as it's impossible to hold the carpet in place for any lengh of time while the glue drys.

Any info appreciated.

You need a contact adhesive i.e. EvoStick and get the stuff in tins under the counter, it has to be the smelly stuff. Sticks carpet perfectly. Rich...

I've used stuff called 'SPRAYTACK'. Really fast grab and cures in about 3 mins.
It is an industrial adhesive - typically used in the pipework or vessel insulation business. Might get some leads from the Yellow Pages?

IIRC thats the stuff that carpet fitters use

I've tried using the spray on carpet adhesive for this job. I seems to stick just about anything.....except carpet to GRP !

well if you get "Stuck" you could try Gripfill, Sticks like sh1t to a blanket...Could be too strong though

Rich, I'll stick to Copydex - pardon the pun(s)....!!

Evostick is fine for laminates etc, but it stinks and it reacts with all Automotive paints, so I don't/won't use it near the car.

Copydex works fine on non-porous/non-porous, you just have to be patient and let it dry (water based rubber latex), then it's as good as anything else.

Have to add a similar warning for Carpet Adhesives in an aerosol, sprays everywhere except where you want and they too will react with Auto paints !!

Buy contact adhesive made by M3 (not the crap stuff from Focus), should be available at your local car panel / paint supplier. It's what the two trim shops I know recommend and was first choice when I worked in the furniture trade.

There is new adhesive which can be purchased from builders merchants.
Made by Evode I believe and is called 'Sticks like sh*t'.
I kid you not!
Could be worth a try altho' how well does sh*t stick??

Either Evostick (in tins) or Dunlop "Thixofix", which is very similar. Both excellent.

Warning, when in the tin in liquid form, the fumes are flammable, so no smoking near your petrol tank.........

Try a hot glue gun i have used this for mine. get used to burning your fingers though!

Another vote for a hot glue gun, sticks like errm glue.
