Nitron springs
Discussion
Evening All,
Has anyone ever replaced a set of springs on Nitron shock absorbers? I am having to put so much preload on the springs to get the car sitting at an acceptable ride height that once the car is sitting back on all four wheels the springs almost become coil bound (and occasionally botttom out). As the image shows I have the first shock absorber off the car but am unsure how to get the spring off. The brass spring collar does not go over the eye bush which attaches the shock absorber to the car (the C clip in the image is from the large washer which when in place holds the brass spring collar in place). My concern is if I undo the lock nut on the chrome piston rod (to remove the whole head) the shock absorber may de gas or leak as the damper adjuster sits beyond it.
If anyone has previous experience with this type of set and could offer some advise it would be most appreciated,
Thanks
Richard

I'm pretty sure that there are a pair of spacers fitted into the eye-bush in the picture (one each side). Removing these might give you the clearance needed. I seem to remember that they were a tight fit....
The pic in the link below shows the eye-bushes in the shocks without the spacers and the 16 spacers....

Good Luck
Otherwise - call Nitron - they were very helpful when I dealt with them to have mine rebuilt

Dip the end in a mug of hot water for a few minutes and the bushes & seals should pop out of the rod end quite easily with your fingers.
If the springs are compressing so much either they are far too weak or your car is ludicrously overweight. Spring free length is significant, but not to the extent you are describing under static load (8" front & 9/10" rear)

Thanks for the feedback, bushes now removed from the first shock absorber and spring off; now that I can see how they are fitted the rest will be straight forward. I have also ordered new springs from Nitron - 9"/275lb rear (upped by 25lb) & 350lb front (std), hopefully this should resolve the problem.
Nitron were also very helpful but where keen for me to return all 4 units for check/refurb, however the damping aspect seems fine and at the moment the finances won't stretch to springs plus refurb.
Cheers
Richard
