Front indicator lense - how to swop lenses?
Discussion
Hi guys just got my clear lenses to swop out the orange ones, can you please tell me the easiest way to swop them and what tools I need to do this job! Some of you might say it's a piece of pi55 but Im generally rubbish with things like this, but desperate to give it ago and hopefully get that sense of pride/satisfaction once the job if done, cheers. Once I have done that I have the joy of stripping the outriggers and bringing them back to near perfect condition so to speak... Oh what freaking joy
Hi
I have just done my front indicators and it is fairly easy.
The whole unit {lens & rear housing) are simply bonded to the perforated plate that sits below the headlight.
I prised mine off gently taking care not to buckle the the plate then the whole unit can be removed through the front grill (remove that first obviously), it's only stuck with a few dabs of resin or Sikaflex.
Next, unscrew the two halves (lens and rear holder) and replace the orange lens with the clear one. Don't forget to get an amber bulb to replace the clear one!
(you can also get silver bulbs which flash orange to avoid that familiar "fried egg" effect)
Next reassemble and test BEFORE re sticking the unit back in the perforated plate with a dab of Sikaflex.
Job done!
Remove roof and drive in the sunshine, safe in the knowledge your P&J looks even better than before.
I'm just about to start a Lupo headlight conversion but as yet my Bo
cks are not quite large enough to take a hacksaw to the body work!!! (Wish me luck)

(Wish me luck)Just take the old (clear) bulb to your local motor factors and ask for a silver one while explaining the application. They are 12V 21Watt IIRC so shouldn't be a problem. Search on eBay too but be careful as I believe some of the pins have different spacing and/or offsets.
Halfrauds probably sell em too, but I prefer to use an independent motor factor and not get shafted on the price!! The staff are often more knowledgeable as well.
Good luck with your quest.....
If all else fails stick with amber bulbs, I bought some recently for my other car and they were only £0.90 each.

The silver bulbs are stupidly expensive, I actually bought 2 but they didn't fit so did the home made method I had read about and works an absoloute treat.
Take 2 amber bulbs, spray lightly with silver spray paint and your sorted. No fried egg effect and still flash amber
