Hair raising journey
Discussion
As some people may know i'm doing a bit of a restoration job on my chimp at the moment but last night was time to transport the car from where it was being kept round to my house.
No dash, no carpets, seat bolted in with 2 rear bolts (as that's all that was left from the old corroded ones) hood not held down, no boot latch, but the 30 mile trip needed to be done.
After about 4 hours of work between 3 of us we got it to a drivable state where at least the dash lights were on, dials worked and roof was in place and holding. So the journey began. Set off, and over the first big bump the speedo and tacho (held in place by nothing) jumped and then shorted out and stopped working, shortly followed by the heater controlls. Relays were going a bit mental up on the dash and in the passanger footwell (where the old one's that are just nackered need replacing). Thankfully though the lights and engine soldiered on. Going down the motorway the bonnet then decided to open at about 80 which was a bit of a brown pant moment. Pootled along at 50 till the next exit and (after reaching through the hole in the hood to push the door opener) fixed the latch and was off again.
Thankfully all back to wycombe in one piece, other than most of the elecetrics the engine is running sweet, as is to be expected, so next step is to start putting things back together, replacing fuses and relays, fitting carpets, and generally making it look like a car inside again.
Thought that might give people a laugh on a dreary Friday morning.
Roll on the weekend !!

Ropps, That'd be awesome mate if you've got some going spare ! If you're not using the blue one's that'd be brilliant ! How you getting on with yours ?
