4ltr chim with Megasquirt and edis issues
Discussion
Well i fitted the edis with standard ecu and had the car running...i thin fitted with MS1 and still had a spark but no fuel being injected, the plugs were dry.
After loading a different map i had fuel being injected shown by wet plugs but no spark. I disconnected everything and tried the edis on its own and still had no spark so i took the module apart and part of the circuit was fried...
So firstly i am not sure what has caused that.
Secondly i have got 2.5v coming from megasquirt pin 24 (pip) going to pin 1 on the edis.
Is that right...i thought pin 1 from the edis module sent a signal to the megasquirt...?
I have got the injectors and edis wired up to the same terminal on the relay and have power when cranked and ignition on positions.
Its doing my head in now...i just donw want to connect the new edis module up in case i fry it again...!!!

Andy do you have the EDIS 8 module wired like this
the only way i could see the EDIS module becoming damaged is if that MS1 is not configured for EDIS use and is sending the wrong voltage to the SAW/timing info input of the EDIS unit
please note Andy EDIS 8 and EDIS 4 are wired differently on the same style of plug be careful where you source wiring info
something is seriously wrong as EDIS is a very very robust ign module
No2 is the Ford IDM/diagnostic pin and this will drive one of Phil Ringwoods/Extra EFI tacho units directly

The EDIS8 module doesnt need to be connected to the MS ECU to run the ignition. The ECU is there to tell the EDIS module what angle the ignition needs to be fired at. Without this the EDIS8 defaults to 10degs. So leave the SAW output off the EDIS module for now until the spark is working.
The PIP should be held up to 12V by the MS ECU and switches to ground when the EDIS recognises a full revolution of the 36-1 crank wheel.
If its not at 12 or 0V then theres an issue with wiring or the way the ECU was built.

cheers,
Phil

I was under the impression Andy already had it running on EDIS alone Phil The PIP should be held up to 12V by the MS ECU and switches to ground when the EDIS recognises a full revolution of the 36-1 crank wheel.

I have spent most of the evening going over the wiring and double checking things...!
and thanks phil...for some reason i got it into my head that a voltage coming out of the ms was not right. I will get this going run it for a while and then i think i know where i will be going when i upgrade to MS2...!
