Another Exhaust question.....
Discussion
Sorry for another thread on this topic, but was wondering if anyone has left the perforated pipes in the box, but just removed the wadding?
I've listened to plenty of full sleeves, and decats but can't find any clips/cars with the above setup.
Its not a route I had considered until the local specialist said it was a nice a cheap way of getting a bit more noise without being too loud.

i'm not to sure on this but taking some of the wadding out would get you a bit more noise with not
to much noise within the car
if you was to take all the wadding out it would be the same noise level as a fully sleeved system i think
but you run the risk of the exhaust noise booming witin the box and coming into the car ? not nice on a long journey
i think that most of the sleeved systems still keep the wadding in to help reduce the booming effect
i'm sure others will be along soon to advise

Hi,
Just wanted to report back on the cheaper route and the route i have just taken and thats buying a new exhaust and having it sleeved(properly)
Absolute no comparison, get the exhaust sleeved properly(pay the extra few quid) and i promise you will not regret it!! mine sounds so much better

thus creating loads of racket
..
oh sorry! I meant Nascar sounds
yeh right
Hi Keith,
I can only judge on my half hearted attempt of having my 1st exhaust sleeved(or should i say having the waddling taken out and then put back together) It did sound slightly deeper than the standard exhaust, but after 2500rpm i got this whistling sound.... sounded good, but wanted a louder raw and pops and bangs.
I then bought another exhaust and had Mike Morgan engineers who are a TVR specialist based in Berkshire who sleeved the exhaust the proper way and now sounds absolutely fantastic. Yes its louder in the cockpit, and pops and bangs beautifully.
I spoke to the guys that sleeved it for me, they are very happy to talk you through how they did it -01189340919 (ask for Calvin)

There isn't much cost difference as most of it is labour (for those of us without the ability to weld). I was wondering what the difference in noise level is (if any) and whether there was any difference in tone. I've heard a few full sleeves on youtube, and while I'm in the 'sounds awesome' rather than the 'sounds like a tractor' camp I worry it will be too loud for comfort.
Hi Tim, really hard to answer your question as individually we all have are threshold of how much are ears drums can take. What might be to loud for you might be perfect for me, or visa versa. If your in and around my area, pop over and take my chim for a drive and make a call from there.

Yes ive been told a few times
Yes i do have a video but i sold that exhaust after buying an ACT Y piece to find the combination of the two was just to much .
This is a video with the ACT Y piece and standard exhaust ..
Give it a minute ,i gave it a quick blip after comming in off the track..
There is also another one with a RX7 after me but you have to give it a minute untill we get on the straight. I had track day silencers in on the track.
Do i rearly look like Kevin Spacey .
