Evening,

Having a browse, this one popped up: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3750051.htm

Mileage is low for price, but the age could be a factor. Does anyone know this car, or think it may have an issue? I'm tempted to pop over and have a look at it tomorrow.

Thanks guys,

phillpot

Shouldn't, as standard, be T5 / Serpentine at that age ?

And that carpet looks very fluffy wink

The Bible tells me that the T5 came in 1994 so it's possible!

Not show how much fluffy carpets would affect a sale with me smile

It's a deal, it's a steal, it's sale of the fking century. ... ha.

Couple of things i'd say looking at that. I mean firstly is it just me or does anyone else think that in pic 5 that car looks blue ? It does seem odd having a blue and cream interior when the car is green ?? I might be wrong there but it's probably worth HPIing it before you go. I did an HPI on mine before i went to get it and found out it was registered blue ... NOT white !!

Also, what's going on with the dash ? Half wood, half aluminium ? Has something broken behind it ? Looks pretty tidy to me other than that and if it's got the T5 that's a bonus, although nosh will tell you as well that you get used to the old box (if it is the old one). It's fun sometimes going into reverse at the lights .. yikes

Having just bought one for £4700 i'd say expect to have to do work on it, lots, i'm having to ! All part of the fun though if you ask me! As long as the engine and chassis are good then that's the main thing !

If you're in bucks and want to come and look at what mine's like for the money then i'm in High Wycombe, more than welcome to pop over !

It's cheap enough to let me spend money putting it right. I'm most concerned about chassis, engine, gearbox, diff... The visuals come second for me at my budget.

Let me get sorted with one, I'll drive it over to you smile

Well all the topside is very shiney including the engine hoses and spare wheel cover. Maybe done to take your eyes away from the problems? I'd give Rob Ingleby a call www.findasportscar.co.uk and get him to give it the once over could save you buying a lemon or get you a bargain.

Serp on a 93? Not heard of that before. Mine was registered December 93 and is pre-serp. Seems TVR just built with whatever bits they had in laying around at the time.

Although it's an early car, I notice the door opener isn't in the same bit as the handbrake / gear lever - which it was on the very early models.

Whats The the damage for Robs services ? I can`t see why you need to have it inspected at cost!

Its all plain common sense!

Its not a 20k Porsche your going to buy its a 5k 18 year old "jalopy"

Im sure there`s plenty of Chimaera owners on here who would have a look for you .

What type of inspection can he give you with Car jack and torch?

Its a 5k motor for God sake .
