Hi folks

I am looking for the nylon expandable sheathing material that protects the wiring loom in the door aperture as mine has worn through and the wires are exposed.

Been to 3 auto electrical places locally and drawn a blank so far!

If this is not available anymore has anyone used anything else to do the job?

Mine has started wearing too. Is it easy enough to change?

I am doing mine while the door panel is off and I am replacing the electric window assembly. You basically have to disconnect the door loom connections from the speaker, mirror, cig lighter, mirror remote switch and electric window motor. This might be tricky without the door panel being removed as all access will be via the speaker aperture.

You then have to remove the door seal rubber and pull back the carpet to get access to where the loom enters the body, cut away the old braid, remove the grommet from the door and feed the entire door loom assembly through the grommet hole.

I have not this bit yet but envisage that you have to expand the braid and thread all of the door loom plugs carefully through it and feed it up towards the grommet which should be pushed up the loom adjacent to the body. I will then tape the braid to the loom just behind the grommet and pull the grommet back over the braid.

You can then release the tape and pull more braid through the grommet and re-tape it as close to the body grommet as you can, then reach behind the carpet and gently pull the loom and braid into the cabin through the grommet. Then remove the tape hold the braid inside the cabin and gently pull the loom back towards the door to its original position. put some tape or small tie wrap around the broad to stop it slipping. Re-fix carpet and door seal.

Secure the braid at the other end and feed the loom back into the door and re-fit the grommet. Connect everything back up and that should be job done.

Thanks Bluefish, thumbup
Doesn't sound too bad a job just a bit time consuming. I'll put it on the list for later in the year when the weather is not so sunny! smile
