Whining gearbox..........

The T5 gearbox on my 44k mile 500 has begun to whine in 2nd and 3rd gears. There are no clonks or other noises, just the irratating whine.

Any suggestions as to the likely cause? Also any suggestions as who to go to for repairs (TVR indie, or specialist T5 repair shop). Would help if it were in the SW somewhere. Apart from actual repair, how many hours labour should I expect to remove and refit box?

Any advice much appreciated.

mine does the same but in all gears including reverse...

First thing to do is check the gearbox oil level.

Yep they did my t5 quaife conversion , top job

Thanks for all the advice. Will be visiting friends in Hemel Hempstead at Easter, so Gearbox man will get a visit as he's only 5 miles away.
