Shnozz's Chim 400 -v- DustyC's Griff 500


times were 14.8 @ terminal speed of 110mph for the Chim and 13.7 @ terminal speed of 110mph for the Griff. It has to be said that we are both novices so reaction time and controlling wheelspin was not brilliant. We both feel a second could be knocked off the times and that is more in line with the book figures for both cars.

Well done Phil, I'd say that was a pretty respectable time for your Chim 400 taking into account the extra weight it was carrying! Surely DustyC can't belittle that performance...!

enough that I am in the Rover all week as the rears are no longer road legal.... just ordered some Toyos in at a local tyre fitter for the weekend.

To be fair it probably wasnt that much as they were nearing legal limits anyway. Didnt help that first run against the pulsar I did the proper burn out business before the start line to warm up the tyres.

No way. It was a brillaint run.
Since we btoh had exactly the same Drag racing experience at this point it probably gives a good comparison of the 500 and 400.

Infact I was chatting with Phil saying that there isnt really all that much difference between a 4.0 and 5.0.
At least not as much as people on here seem to think.

I have spent a long weekend in the company of a 4.5 Chim too and again the performance difference is even smaller.

I think its just a case of the differences getting hyped up on here a lot.

whatever next? I'll be saying I like Chims!

cheers True about the extra weight although I was never going to take it seriously enough to chop off justin trousersnake for the sake of triumphing over my fellow countyman.

Dusty and I had a real laugh and it was great pitching the cars against each other which was more luck than judgment. Interesting to see the 4 and 5 against each other and even more interesting for the terminal speeds to be identical. The torque of the 5 litre would probably become a lot more apparent over a mile or so it has to be said.

Nice to see the banter leading up to this has been born out :calp:. As we all knew/know on the road you'd be hard pushed to spot the difference in anything but a long dual carriageway lug.

I think you'll find quite a few if you have a good look around.
Then again you'll also find a lot of 4 v 5 threads too.

Theres only so many things we can argue about so we generally have to have the same argument a few times over.

I remember that , 'Dusty what'd you get' ................. a 13-point-what bollocks, better go round again I think.
Originaly got 14.1 then 14.0, slowed it all down let the car catch up with the spinning wheels a bit and got 13.7 and 13.8 always around 110 though .

Deffo right about the 5ltr though , should have put one in the V8S like Steve Cox's sprint machine first time around . Not sure I could live witht ehshape of the griff, could do with a chim size boot though
