When I did my clutch I had the engine out so fairly easy. I now want to do a clutch on my mates 1999 450, he had a cheap clutch fitted and it judders in reverse and a little in 1st.

Question is >

The gearbox remote linkage, is it from inside the cabin or do I reach over the box ? If it is inside I cant see when removing center console how it gives any access to the linkage ?

Second question is , when we take the bellhousing off , how do you get to the top two bolts, I know when I took my engine out last year and split it at the bellhousing , I undid these from the engine bay, BUT, I had the top of the engine off.

Thanks in advance

David

Did not have to disturb the center console just work from underneath to disconnect the linkage smile as for the bell housing top bolts they are easily accessed once you remove the box from the bell housing wink

The remote linkage has to be undone from underneath the car. If you wrap your arms over the top of the box towards the front you will feel a rose joint mounted to the top of the bell housing, undo the 13mm nut on this and it will slide out. The rear part can then be unbolted then the box drops down leaving the linkage in place. The bell housing bolts can all be got at from the bottom, i think one or two i used a few extension bars joined together so i could get a bar on to crack them off and then wound them out by hand.

Hope this helps
