I`ve just bought an early 500 with the door lock mounted in the opening buttons. I have sorted a remote control alarm for fitting which will operate central locking but can the release buttons be swapped easily for the smarter looking chrome/aluminium ones on later cars. I guess this will have been done many times before so any advise much appreciated

I know the keyless pushes look better but I must say I've found the option to lock the car using a key very handy, during battery failing you can lock it, alarm issues you can still lock it, and if you've not got the secret locks you could give yourself more problems than you thought

You can get the blank buttons from TMS :-www.tvrgear.co.uk/

I think shnozz has done this IIRC
