HI everybody! I am a Froggy who has just bought a TVR Chimaera 450 1998. A very very nice one, midnight blue with one colour beige leather inside. The car is already immatriculated in France, so no problem to get the official papers.
On the car there is the original 500 alloy, 15'' in front and 16'' back. I would like to keep them for MOT and upgrade the car to 17'' and 18''. I have selected this alloy model.

http://www.eurawheels.com/EUR/details.asp?Designat...

My question is: what are the original ET of each alloy, so that I can choose the one which is nearest to the original ET.
I was told the ET are 18 and 35, but many people say others ET are the original ones.

So I could buy ( on the list ) the 17*7.5, 4*108 ET 15 for the front with 215/40/17
and 18*8, 4*108 ET 25 ( no choice here ) with 245/35/18

Thanks for your lights!!!

Philippe

True... Et15 front might get you in trouble with the wheelarches. I would go 7,5x17 et25 and 8,5/9x18 et 35

Ok thanks for the quick answer. In that case I will choose ET 25 for the front but for rear there is only ET25....not ET35. Is it OK anyway?

its the distance from the center line of the rim to the face of the mounting surface.
So for a 7 inch rim, that is 177mm wide so centre line is 88.5mm so an et of 25 means that the mounting surface is 63.5 mm fron the outside edge of the rim, or 113.5mm from the inside edge of the rim.

For rear there is NO choice, only one available:

18 x 8 4 / 108 ET 25

Is it a problem, knowing that originally rear are ET35? This is my question.

rearHave a look on here ,you can have play and get it spot on. My question is if the rear wheel is brought out say another 15mm will the tyre catch the wheel arch..The rear arch is very different in design to other tin tops.Another thing to watch is the tyre catching the angled outrigger at the rear..you need to jack the car up with the wheel on to see if it catches..I havd 205/55/15`s on the front with an offset of 15 with no problems.

Can you confirm what the front wheel width was that the 205/55/15 was mounted on.
Was it a 7" with an ET of 15mm?
