Im in the middle of a rebuild/body off on my Chim. Today i took the engine and gearbox out and when looking over the box i found there is a bit of play on the input shaft. Is this normal or is it a sign of rebuilt time?

Thanks
Graeme

How much play? A few mm or just a tiny amount? My gearbox is off at the moment so I can check tomorrow and compare the play on mine.

Should be just a small amount of side to side play & the reason being is that the input shaft is designed to also be supported by the bronze pilot bearing in the rear of the crankshaft wink what's more important is while the gearbox is in neutral hand rotation of said shaft should be smooth and quiet nerd check that pilot bearing (in the end of the crankshaft) condition while you have the trans & eng separated though smile

Thanks Simon, There is only a very small amount of movement. A couple of people have had a wiggle and said it feels fine.

Thanks again

I dropped mine off at Readman Racing yesterday. Mine had quite a wiggle and John said it was like shaking hands with someone. It's getting a rebuild with some nice upgrades and may be ready today.
