I need a new alarm to be fitted in Chelmsford Essex area. Not sure I want one of the funky ones. Any recomendations of best least problematic units also suggested fitters in this area.
Thanks, info appreciated.

From what i've heard Carl is very good, but fairly pricey so it depends what you want to spend ! I got a quote from a local Auto Elec guy that had done a few TVR's before which was pretty reasonable !

I'll +2 this. No point scrimping on things like alarm systems. Carl is (possibly) a little more expensive than others for a reason.

I will ask Carl for a quote. Problem is the cars immobile at the moment so cant be driven. Dead as a Dodo.
Thanks for the info.

Mine was expensive - but I felt it was worth it. My car is an early 93 with a 'style' of wiring that Carl had not seen in a Chim before; he mused it may have been a test or something. He got the car at 10h00 and I didn;t leave his house until 8pm - he worked on it for most of the day...

I had problems with the electrics before, the car had a second alarm fitted by some numpty and the battery was being drained continually.

Carl fixed the issues and I was extremely happy with the service I got - and the battery is sweet as well smile

I don't think Carls charges are bad as he knows what he's doing and will do a proper job. I'm sure if you want cheaper you can get it but IMO this is generally false economy as you'll end up paying more in the long run. Always best to go with someone who understands the quirks of TVR wiring (assumning it is a Tiv) and he will travel as he's been up to Birmingham a couple of times when we've had problems.
Personally, I wouldn't trust anyone else with the electrics.

I can second this and agree with all recommendations for Carl. He told me how to bypass my imobiliser/alarm so I could drive to his place. Got there for 08:30 and left at about 6pm. Other than the initial introductory Tea break he worked pretty much constantly all day. He was even happy for me to remain there with him, take the odd photo for future reference and explain everything he did. TOP BLOKE!
Remote boot popper is a godsend! Again not cheap but THATCHAM 1 complete with Certificate as he is a registered installer (Better than factory)

Spot on. You can buy cheap, but you may then end up paying twice. Carl is worth the money and the job will be done properly.
