5 litres should do it, although put in 4 - 4.5 and check to be on the safe side...

No way frown just changed mine 6.5 to max on the d/stick & never have I at to fit less than 6 litres on these cars wink But with an oil cooler fitted & obviously you cant drain all that out so as a starting point I would go for 6.5+ litres scratchchin just start with buying 2 x 4 or 5 litre packs then you have plenty to do the oil & filter change with plenty to spare thumbup

Just put 5 in mine and it is on the minimum mark. I've always put about 6 ltrs in to get to the maximum mark.

'need' = 5 litres ie above min. on dipstick wink

6 litres advisable if using for any length of time....

OK I stand corrected.

About 6,8 l.

Just did the oil change last week and it took almost 7 liters.
Included was the prefill of the oil filter. and i filled it up to the max at the dipstick.

so don't buy to little oil as i did and had to order another liter to fill her up correctly.

Same here. '93 Griff 500. Takes almost 7 quarts or thereabouts after a good 30 min sump drain when hot and refilling the new filter before screwing it on. Fill the filter slowly as it'll take a few seconds after each pour for the oil to absorb into the filter media but it'll hold almost a quart all said and done so if you have 7 qts on hand, you'll be good to go.

Nice thread resurrection.
On the pre serp is it a case of just drain and refill as usual or are there issues with the oil pump?

No problem if you drain and refill but do fill the filter before you fit it. If you drain and leave it drained then you will need to prime the pump. Don't ask me how long you can leave it as I have not risked finding out.
If we do an engine rebuild or cam then we prime. If we are starting a car that has been asleep in someone's garage we prime.
