Central locking doesn't always lock
Discussion
Most of the time the central locking seems to work fine, but I've noticed on a couple of occasions that the doors don't lock when I press the alarm fob.
The immobiliser still beeps, and the indicators flash, but the doors don't lock.
I'm sure I've read somewhere that it might be something to do with the car thinking the doors aren't closed.
If that is the case, I noticed today that the interior light didn't go off when I closed the door earlier, so I'm guessing the issues are linked.
Has anyone experienced similar? Hopefully it will be something simple, but I haven't had chance to look at it this evening.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It sounds to me like you have found the fault.
The doors won't lock if the system thinks the door is open. The door switch is located in the sill
and is pressed by a small piece of rubber stuck to the door. If this is missing then the switch may not be pushed in far enough to open the circuit.
If the rubber bit is still there then undo the small phillips self tapper that holds the switch to the sill and check the condition of the switch. They are cheap and cheerful and soon corrode but they can be cleaned up to work again.
Try pressing the button in and see if you get a relay click from inside the car. If you dont get a click then suspect a knackered switch.

Those switches are just the usual single terminal earth through the mounting screw door/alarm switches - no good for a glass fibre car.http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinest...
