Fuel Pump problems - any advice??

I have a 1993 Chimaera 4.0. Usually when I turn on the ignition, there is a buzzing noise from the fuel pump. I have just tried to start it - but no 'buzz'!! I checked the connections to the fuel pump and all the fuses - but no joy. Other than the obvious i.e. broken fuel pump, I am missing something??

I would be grateful for any advice.

have you checked the relay and wiring continuity ? If all ok then check the resistance of the pump, not sure what it should be but obviously less than infinity (i:e open circuit)or even put 12v across it to see if it works! Inertia switch tripped? See P105 / 238 et seq, of bible etc.

Standard '93 Chim - You don't mention the alarm ?? Early ones had no remote alarm, door key set/un-set alarm. Check that your alarm imobiliser is not on - red LED on dash? Does it (or has it) ever flashed?? Also, does your fuel guage show zero fuel, yet you know there's fuel in the tank?? Then your alarm is set and the fuel pump imobiliser has isolated the fuel pump. Use the key in the door lock to un-alarm the alarm (see hand book).

Thanks for the advice, I have checked the immoboliser and it is o.k. I am unsure which relay I should be checking. The owners book does not appear to identify a specific relay for the fuel pump (neither does the book I have by Steve Heath). Is it one of the relays that are built into the loom rather than on the fuse panel?

They show the two fuel pump relays, in the wiring loom and unique for TVR from Bosch.

They are both the same part number and only available from Bosch (aftermarket versions of this relay are not switched in the same way and will result in a flat battery), or a TVR dealer of course. So, find a Bosch supplier and quote that number on the top of the relay. I'm not sure about the plastic relay though ...
