Hey,

I need

205 / 50 / 15
245 /45 / 16

What manufacturers produce both sizes for front and rear?!

I have the T-1r, but I do not like them.

Regards,

Malcster

I went for these:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Kumho/Ecsta-KU31...

Comparible price to Toyo's, and no complaints so far.
From what I've read they have fairly soft sidewalls, so not great on heavy cars. But on a fibreglass sports car... no issues!

I thunk you want 205/55-15 or 225/50.... But not all cars are specified the same...

Pedandic mode on/ searching on American sites will tire you when searching for tyres /off.

Welcome, how about some Toyo R1R's, should be much better roadholding.

Im glad you have gone for those Kumhos ,alot of the car Forums shout about them.

Toyos are over priced now seeing as they were budget tyres to start with and the falkens are starting to go that way..

Keep us posted about your Kumhos

Think the R1R`s would be everyone`s choice but in my world they are just over budget..

Hey,

yes my mistake. I meant 225 / 50 / 16.

Except for Semi Slicks and the T1-R I cant find appropriate tires.

In the US they have a few more trackday tires, as in semis, but not really any road tires.

What similar tire sizes could I fit? Or better what OEM wheels would fit to the Chimeara, that use 16/17in combo?

I've got Kumho Ecstas on the front of mine. They were on there when I bought the car six years ago and they just don't seem to wear out. I have done 20,000 miles in the six years of my ownership including a couple of track days. I have had no issues or complaints with them. I have often thought that the slow rate of wear probably means a harder compound but they seem to grip well in all conditions.

You mean The Ecsta MX, the KU15???? For the fronts there are alot of tires, but the rear is the issue.

Why has no one mentioned Yokohama tyres ?

If you have the money and you go on a few trackdays buy Toyo R1R`s ,can`t see them lasting very long.

H'm, the R1Rs (although those were the Japanese-spec 'Trampio' R1Rs as they weren't available in Europe back then) did last something like 12-15K miles on a 1,275 kg, 300ish horsepower Saab before the fronts got an advisory being at 2.4 mm or so (the rears weren't much better - the lift-oversteer on that car was at least as strong as the power understeer biggrin) and that included five track events. Must say I was pleasantly surprised with that; on a lighter car they should be even better.

The problem with R1Rs is that as of yet I have not found an appropriate sizes combo for the std 15/16" wheels in the current range, even when accepting V-rated tyres...

Quick question to the OP, The T1R is a very popular choice for Chim/Griff owners. What is it about this tyre that you don't like?

Hi,

Im actually asking for a friend. This is what he is telling me. The S-02 felt better he told me.
As far as I know he is running a lot more power then standard.
So I am looking for tire options, but have looked everywhere and thought here in the forums I would find a better choice.

The Toyo T1R has similar traction to the SO2pp but softer side walls so it does feel different. Users tend to up the tyre pressures a little to compensate

Used them on my old Elise. Great tyres. Better than the T1R's, on the Elise anyway.

I would have gone with those, if they had any. Falkens on the way instead
