Hi

My Chim finally passed the MOT (yippee!)last week with only 3 advisories, 2 tyres near the limit (V easy fix) and an oil leak (now sorted by resealing the sump) so all set for the summer.

However, driving home in the rain from the MOT station I flicked on the wipers and when I tried turning them off again they just kept on going!

I tried all sorts of things like flicking the switch from top to bottom in quick succession and pulling the squishers in the vain hope of getting them to reset/stop but nothing.

Eventually they did stop by which time the screen was bone dry and the wipers were struggling to move over a dry screen.

I have replaced the park switch before the MOT and I appeared to work fine so any suggestion gratefully received............. banghead

Thanks

Goaty Bill

Sticky relay or switch contacts?

Why do you need to switch them off? I've not switched my wipers off for weeks!

Knackered wiper park switch, dirty park switch contacts, or damaged wiring leading through the wing to the park switch. Park switch housed under the wiper motor/gearbox.
Cheers, Matt

I have just replaced the park switch. Does anyone know which relay to check? I could swap it out just in case. Does the switch/stalk come apart or is it a binit job?
Many thanks
Mark

Sorry, missed that bit.
I have similar problems with my 450. Have replaced the park switch, the park switch connector from the wiring loom, then replaced the top half of the wiring loom but wish I'd replaced the lot as it's probably gone where it comes out of the wing.
Try moving the wiring around whilst the wipers are running and not parking and see if you can make it stop. If it does, it could be a switch contact problem or a wiring loom fault.
Still trying to resolve mine. They work fine on normal speed and most of the time on intermittent but occassionally they park on the driver's side. No idea why.
Have tried replacing the park relay but had trouble getting the exact same part number one and the ones supplied caused all sorts of different problems like no push up single wipe, no park at all, wipers stop when normal speed is cancelled wherever they are on the screen etc etc
The relay is in the main panel, usually a tall black relay box marked "GM" as in Vauxhall. If you have a service manual for your car, there is a fuse and relay layout diagram in there for your car.
