Ever been curious why the GKN speedo sensors fall out of bed scratchchin well judging by the small hole in the tub and the factory connectors I will assume mine is original idea if you look at the picture you will see at some point that it as seen moisture in there attacking the wire so can only assume that when TVR potted the sensor in that brass housing they should have sealed the cable entry properly frown mine as not been working for at least 2 years reliably (air gaps correct) so while its off the road thought I would have a little look it had no continuity so I had nothing to lose hehe

Interesting Simonsays. I've heard that interference can cause problems with the speedo signal but nobody saying that their sensor had actually failed.
What were the symptoms ? Speedo not working ?
I am suspicious of mine as I intermitently have the revs stay high problem. It's not the stepper as when the car comes to a halt and the sensor or whatever is the cause of the problem actually works, the stepper is able to bring idle down from 1600-1800 to 950rpm, where it should be.
However, sometimes when I come to a complete stop, this does not happen.

How did you test the sensor. Continuity you said but is that when it sees light or dark - it is an optical sensor isn't it, or is it field effect/induction ?

yes Induction/Inductive, well replacement can wait at the moment as the car is currently on sorn frown just in case anyone asks I don't know a cheaper alternative as there is just so much variation with this type of sensor (unless anyone knows otherwise) it would give you a headache just searching nerd may settle for an OE one or Steve Heaths unit with self diagnostics idea or a good s/hander would be nice scratchchin
