Just had a new rear window stitched in to the hood by Monsoon Car Hoods in East Sussex. I was originally looking at restitching the existing window (stitching had rotted / come adrift in both top corners over a length of around 8 inches) as the original window was still pretty good. When they told me it would be more difficult to re-stitch than simply replace and the fact that the material was an extra 11 quid (!) I obviously had the new window. Made me realise how much the old one had, in fact, yellowed. Great job, while you wait service (about three hours) and lashings of coffee. Sat there working on my laptop with free wifi connection. Nice people and a very good price. Recommended if you're in the area. thumbup

Do you mind me asking how much you paid?

The stitching around my rear window is weak, and one of the little velcro flaps has come off altogether and needs restitching. If there's a cheap & cheerful way of repairing it without replacing the hood entirely, then I'm interested.

ETA: I've also sent them an enquiry via their web site.

No problem. Price was £170 + VAT. I had qutoes of around double that and £230 so by that time £170 was OK by me. They took the hood off, repaired and put it all back toogether again. No doubt you could get it slightly cheaper if you removed the hood and presented them with it already off the car but at least I could see the finished job was nice and tight. See attached.

I'd also be interested to know how much it would cost as my rear screen is an absolute state and actually split last weekend. Mike, it'd be great to have an update if you get anywhere with it!

I remember these guys - did a new roof on an MX-5 I had back in 2000 (the shame of it....). Were excellent and cheap. Glad to hear they are still going strong.
