Apologies if this is a rather hackneyed question (I'm pretty sure it is)but it seems to be difficult to get a definitive answer!

Can you run a Chim day-in day-out, parked outside (without a cover) in all weathers without having to wear a pair of wellies on occasion?

Please say yes, otherwise It'll have to be a Boxster....

Mine did leak but does not now. Incidently both Boxsters I had leaked as well ,until sorted, its pretty common to have leaks in a Boxster.

Excellent! That'll do me.

Ewan221, thanks, didn't know that about Boxsters.

I do - and it's fine bar the odd wet carpet. Just buy one with proper seals around the windows.

Good to know. Out of interest, do you use yours as a daily?

Have a look on Boxster forums pretty common and with the alarm ecu under passenger seat can be expensive.

YES from here too! Mine's a daily driver and I recently had the weird experience of taking it out of the garage and leaving it on the soaking wet drive so I could put the family skoda in to dry out its interior. Mine's watertight so far as I know.

I knew about the RMS and the propensity for their engines to explode without warning, but I didn't know about that!
This is all shaping up quite nicely!

Nice one. Good to know you use it as a daily as this is my intention too.

Yup - daily driver here too ... lives outside, roof off 90% of the year (soft cover over if it's raining).

Definitely isn't "concourse" condition but the old girl is a good honest workhorse. biggrin

Definitely Yes.
I've run mine as a daily driver since I bought it in 2001. It is parked outside and only gets the Leven cover on in really bad weather just to protect the roof and the waterproofing a bit.

Cheers, Matt

Thanks all. Very encouraging. No cover for mine as it will be street parked. Hopefully as long as I keep the seals in good nick and the roof well proofed, all will be good.

Time to start the hunt then!

the leven cover just does the roof and windows, and pretty well ensures it is dry even in the worst of weathers.

Thank you sir! Just looked them up and any remaining worries are gone. Off to see a couple of Chims tomorrow on the strength of it.

I've had my car out in the open overnight in particularly heavy thunderstorms that turned all surrounding fields in mud pools, Tiv still bone dry inside the morning after (and that was with a worn soft roof part). smile
