any need to torque suspension bolts?
Discussion
I would say just "sensible" tight with socket/spanner.
If using an impact gun you have no idea how tight you've done stuff, should always be checked with torque wrench.
These bolts are basically acting as pivots, the nut is almost just there to stop them falling out, and being "Nyloks" don't need to be done up tight to stop them coming undone (imho)

Hi Phil, There is a need to torque the bolts up and I am sure that there will be someone more eminent than me to explain why. There is a list of settings available it was on a post a few months ago, I think it is also on the chimaera pages. If you look at the bolt pack that you have got there should also be a note in there about reducing the torque settings due to copper ease on the bolts. By setting the same torque on all the bolts at least you will have the same loading on all the bearings.

But will they have the same loading on all the bearings? I do not think the brackets are made to that fine a tolerance that it matters, If I remember on the paper work that came with my bolts it said you may have to spread the bracket to make them fit, how does that fit with a standard torque?I am with the people who just tighten them up by feel. but I always go back to to bolts after a hundred miles or so and re check them.
Gentlemen
If Nylocs are fitted, you cannot torque to a reliable figure due to the running friction exerted by the nylon insert. Unless stated torque figures apply to dry assemblies. One reason for applying a torque is to correctley tension the bolt. If really getting piccy! then you should calculate the bolt stretch and measure the change in length.
enjoy!!!
