Sunday Service (What a Gay Day)
Discussion
I'm a so gay that I am scared of driving my TVR, so the mrs drives it instead!
Well, she drove it once, but I guess she will do it again…
I pushed her to drive it, insisted several times… a few weeks back, as we were at Goodwood, inside the circuit I said “you really should give it a go…”, she went “OK, only to the entrance of the circuit and you take it back…”. So she drove from the inside the track to where the memorabilia shop is at Goodwood and I said, you see, it’s not that hard, why do you not drive a little more…. Well, she did, she ended up driving all the afternoon in the Sussex countryside. The mrs ended admitting that she rather drives the TVR that be in it as a passenger – Good girl! (I guess this is not a compliment to my driving … ).

Mine tried to move it from one side of the driveway to the other last month. She couldn't reach the pedals, couldn't turn the wheel (non PAS model), stalled it twice, couldn't release the handbrake and then got stuck in the car when she couldn't work out how to open the doors from the inside and had to call me in tears for help.
FAIL!!
FAIL!!
My mrs did not stall as all in one afternoon of driving, drove pretty well, managed to get out of car, managed to open the door, she has not complained about the heavy steering (non PAS), etc.... so all in all, she's pretty good, but she's useless a letting the handbrake off if I put it on and also putting t one properly (you have to pull the damn thing pretty hard to engage it properly), and and this was scary, almost smashed the car up in the Waitrose car park wall as she started it while in first gear (i told her to leave the gear engaged when parking as she cold not engage the handbrake properly), she just managed to keep it off the wall (and keeping the front of the car as it should...).
She will definitely drive it again (good way to go to parties in the TVR have a few drinks and have the mrs drive you back in the TVR...).
Frenchie
PS: Dave, are you saying that my mrs is a fly? Wait that I tell her...

The photo is of a TVR Venus Fly Trap

A similar story was when I recently took my sister for a spin in my Chim.
I managed to pop my door without her seeing how, I then hopped out slammed the door and my bother-in-law watched in hysterics for 5 minutes as she struggled to release herself.
Very childish, but very funny

The present Ms. Goat had a go once.
She had to sit on a cushion, seat fully forward, toes just touching the pedals, still couldn't see over the dash properly (at all?), couldn't release the handbrake, and found it impossible to park with the non-PAS steering.
It was the most terrifying 400m drive of my life
, and possibly hers too.
A victory for Blackpool design I would say
Some years back, when the old girl (the Chim, not the present Ms. Goat) was quite new, a young work colleague had all but begged me to drive him to a client office, claiming he was a huge TVR fan (well who wasn't in 1999?).
We stopped for petrol on the way, and I went in to pay.
He walked passed me on my way out from paying, on his way in to buy some cigarettes, sheepishly admitting he had called another of our colleagues to get instructions on how to release himself from the vehicle.
I don't know which embarrassed him the most; the fact that he had to call someone, or that the only person he could think to ask was a female colleague with an avowed disinterest in cars
