Having recently aquired my first TVR at the tender age of fifty-something I am absolutely delighted with it. Not so much a mid-life crisis as a box ticked, having owned an MGB GT V8 for the last 28 years. It is a completely standard '98 Pearl Blue 450 with just over 40,000 miles on the clock. I had it inspected by Rob Ingleby and I think I paid a fair price. This PH forum is brilliant and I'm learning all the time. However, the Chimaera forum combined with the handbook has me constantly searching for stuff I simply don't have. Maybe it's a year thing. Much talk of an extra fan to keep the driver's feet cool draws a blank (literally on the footwell trim) and I have no low level light on the fuel gauge. Not having power steering or air conditioning gives me couple of other bits and pieces to 'not find'. My latest discovery when reading forum discussions about replacing the ashtrays with tweeters is... there aren't any. None of this worries me as it all amounts to less to go wrong. I do have a very nice ICE system though. Curiously, and as advised by a friend, the volume control is in a strange place; under the right foot! I guess this is also standard. Hurrah for a bog standard 450 Chimeaera. Fantastic!!! smile

The "smoking pack" (ashtrays) were an option. Some cars have them, others don't.

The older Chimaeras had an extra fan switch under the dash. (not on '98 cars)

Have you turned the dash lights out by mistake yet? biggrin

I thought PAS was standard on post 97 cars, particularly 450/500s?

Nope. Not this one. It's full upper body workout time when parking and turning. It helps when the tyres are at the correct pressures though.

Became standard during 98. I met with Peter Wheeler & persuaded him to make me a 500 in March 98 with no pas (and knock the £900+ added on the price back off) biggrin

Very nice!!

I have had a few thoughts of selling after 2 years ownership, but I am so attached to it, I suddenly find I cannot do without!

Love these cars!!

Likewise, my '98 450 is no PAS and an utter pig at parking speeds.

This is a bit of a coincidence, I had a MGB GTV8 when I bought my Chim, and I work in the Oil & Gas Industry smile Can't say mine's really bog standard though biggrin
