Suspention setting

Can anyone advise on the ride height setting for a 1999 4ltr Chimaera? I've just fitted new Nitron springs (9" 275lb rear & 9" 325lb front) to existing Nitron shocks (old springs almost appeared coil bound).
I've seen comments about finger clearance between the top of the tyre and wheel arch (3 rear, 2 front??) but trying to get the car sitting equally all round is proving very frustrating. The o/s/r and n/s/f seem to be lower despite more pre load being applied to those springs.
