Arghhhhhh! (Is how I feel at the moment)

Can anyone help me find the switch which turns on the reverse light? I have a 98 Chimaera with the T5 box.

I can see a wire going to a sensor/switch on the passenger side of the gearbox but it's really tight under the exhaust.

Put it into reverse this afternoon. Unfortunately crunched a bit. Now the reverse light is stuck on. Worse still I have reversing sensors and these are stuck on so have a constant BEEEEEEPPPP!

Driving me madmad

I assume that I've damaged the switch when putting it into reverse and now it's stuck.
I'm going to pull the reverse bulb and speaker cable as a quick fix but obviously want to treat the problem not just the symptom.

Thanks,

SImon

The switch is as you can see - is in the top of the gearbox. It screws in/ourt to adjust and then has a locknut to tighten. Guessing, but yours has probably shifted slightly or is faulty. I have the opposite problem in my Cerbera, I have to lean on the gear lever to get the light to come on.

But as you know its a right bugger to get to. The exhaust has to be dropped from a Cerbera to gain access, not sure on a Chimaera though. Once access is gained its a 5 mins job to change and align.

Stupid question but if I pull it out will I end up with a lap full of gearbox oil?

The switch is shown in the picture below (I already have this teeshirt!)

Look where the wires go (towards the centre right of the pic)

Hope its of use...

Thats a picture of an LT77 box configuration. Isn't the T5 different?

thanks for all the advice guys.
mine is a T5 box and I think looks a little different to the picture above.

i can only see one switch on my box on the nearside so I’m guessing that’s the one.

I’ll let you know how I get on.
