Put everything back together after a body off, Engine starts perfectly then I run it for 5 to 10 mins switch it off and then go to start it, turns over ok and coughs and splutters but it won't start. leave it to get cold and it starts perfectly. As the ECU was disconnected, how long does it take for it to re learn things or does it have to get to operating temp before things will get better.

Two things come to mind;

1. a failed fuel temperature sensor (the item plugged into the fuel rail)

2. a failing coil

I had a similar problem; perfect starting but when hot, a real pain plus a misfire when warm. The coil was suspect but when changing it the king lead was completely corroded inside the coil with the brass fitting completely reduced to a white powder. As always it was the last thing I checked after replacing the ECU and fuel sensors. So maybe worth a look? Good luck. John042
