Hi I need help identifying a part, there is a small filter looking assembly that has 1 pipe in and 1 out, it attaches to the top of the fuel filler neck and runs under the car to the front. It seem blocked as air will not go through this. Is this a filter or a valve for return on fuel from injection?

Im wondering if it would be ok to loose the carbon canister and just leave the hose under the chassis.

Would the fuel evaporate and is there a danger element

I'd be worried about fuel fumes making their way into the interior or forming a pocket under the parked car.
I know it's unlikely.
What is the benefit of removing the canister anyway?

Sounds like a check valve have you removed it and blown down both ends?

Hi Phil,
Removed the valve and have fitted a filter temporarily, the tank is back in with the pump etc, does not seem to pressurize fully as the pump runs continuously. I think there may be another fault as it still will not run

Fuel Pressure regulator? Could you temporarily clamp the return pipe back from the fuel rail to force the rail to pressurise and then try?

If the pump runs continuously with just the ign on then someone as either put in an override or the fuel pump rely is knackered or the ECU is faulty frown the pump is supposed to run for a few seconds to pressurize the fuel rail then shut down when you have put the key into the ign on position (not cranking) then once the engine is running/started it then runs continuously, the fuel pump does not know/care if the FPR is working or not wink

there is a spark, you could hear fuel continuously running into the tank. This has been temporarily blocked, still does not fire, although fuel pump has stopped running all the time.

You need to check if the inj's are firing next then wink you may have lost the ign fed constant + 12v feed to them via a faulty fuse or relay.

will look into that today Simon. I Think there may be multiple faults due to the tvr not running for 6 years. At least I know what it isnt!

yep, would be easier to just renew it all, maybe a 5.0 V8 complete with coil packs!

In that case it would have been easier to have bought a runner... wink
