Adjusting Leven Pedals

Can anyone tell me how to adjust these?
My clutch pedal is horizontal rather than vertical & if possible I'd like to move them an inch or so forward.
I can see that there is a threaded bar on each pedal, but can't clearly see how I adjust them.
Can anyone let me know, along with what tools are required please?
Otherwise 3 days in to ownership, found a ball joint to replace, loving the car though :-)

Crack off the lock nut at the back of the pedal.

Wind the pedal in or out on it's threaded bar.

Thought that it would be that simple. Any idea on size of socket/spanner?
Will have another look later today :-)

Cant remember, think it might be 14mm?
