speed bump misery !
Discussion
Hope someone can help with this - I've had my chimaera for a couple of months and, this weekend, it had its first real meeting with a speed bump under my ownership. I didn't hit it too hard but it made a nice scraping sound. Anyway, I got home to find that a bit of my lovely car seems to have some adrift from the rest !! It is about 3ft long and 4 ins wide and looks like it has had a hard life - I guess it is something to do with protecting the goodies under the bonnet. I know I need to have it screwed back on, but does anyone know how vital this bit it??
sounds like the front splitter. I have only ever seen about 3 griffs and chims that still have these in place as they get ripped off every 5 minutes.
Sine 99% of us have been driving around without one for years I wouldnt worry too much. Apparently it can make a slight difference to downforce at 130mph ish and stop the bonnet from felxing quite as much at those speeds. less than that and I havent read any reports of it making any noticeable difference to either cooling or downforce/handling

I also lost my splitter to a speed hump - some abserdly high ones, on a new car park. Found out that the local council had refused to adopt the car park from the developers until these were rectified and managed to get £100 compensation from the developer. Had to chase them, but why the hell should these prats get away with it ! A chimaera is a road car and all roads and public areas should be navigable without damaging your car. If any one is in a similar situation I'd fully recommend hassling the hell out of whoever is resonsible. If everyone did it, speed humps would soon become rarer than an undamaged front splitter !
