I'am having my 450 resprayed next week and the guys at the spray shop asked the following questions:

1, How easy/hard is it to take the doors off?

2, Will the rear light covers come off with out breaking as they are stuck on?

3, Will the rear roof section which is attached to the back of the car come away enough to respray?

Cheers all help apprecieated

Roof:- 5 screws at the bottom edge and 2 large bolts holding the top hoop on. Disconnect roof light using the connector behind the passenger door flap and the whole roof will then lift away.

Rear light lenses:- as written above are just glued in with Sikaflex. Cut them out carefullly with a scalpel and lift away. Before re-fitting you will probably have to re paint/Mastic the black edge on them. Easy enough.

The doors are held on with 2 bolts per hinge - 2 hinges per door. Lift the carpet slightly to gain access to the bolt heads...oh, and have fun reaching the ones behind the dash. Probably easier to get to with the seats out.

You MUST do it though... much easier to spray and a better job if everything is off yes

NO. The way to take the doors off is to remove the door card and take one bolt from the top and bottom on the inside of the door.
You will struggle and probably damage paintwork if you go the hinge remove way and try to refit.

The rear lenses should be sealed with ambersil, this can be scraped out by finger nail as it is a softer compound than sikaflex which they are bonded in with. so no need to remove.
