Footwell tidy up
Discussion
well after getting the chassis finished and the sun disappearing again, I have turned my attention to one of biggest bug bears! the passenger footwell! even though I don't have to deal with it, always annoys me when I take someone out I have to say, oo just watch all the wires and coolant pipes!
so this afternoon I started to rip everything out:

This is how its been since I got it, all be it just pushed in slightly, the usual TVR joke, for me having these wires wrapped up round heater pipes and the battery is just crazy! so the plan is to move the fuse box to behind the seat in the cubby hole which has been done many times before. Now I know spend and others advise against doing this, and to an extent I would aswell, purely for the motto, if it aint broke dont fix it, only mine was broke, with the age of the wires and constant heat on them and bends, one of the wires had split and partially broke which was causing intermittent misfires so I have found out the wires and fixed it and checked all the others whilst at it checking the resistance in each one and they all seems good!

good news was, I found £2.31, bad news was, it looked like a squirrel had been storing his nuts for the winter. carpets were fairly good for the age but I am planning on a full carpet re-trim once this is finished so not to fussed on the condition.
Had a good look over where I plan to route the wires and checked length and I have plenty to stretch round but by 5pm the Jubilee hangover really kicked in so called it a day.
questions though!
1. does anyone know if Gemini was a TVR fitted alarm on early chims? I have one fitted with various boxes scattered around but nothing is working or connected, my plan is to rip this out as well as the after market Toad alarm and fit one with central locking and door poppers just for giggles. I'm guessing this part of the alarm?

2. I want to tidy up the heater pipes whilst at it, is this how it came out the factory? the heater valve is loose (though works fine when changed from hot to cold) I know the later cars had SS pipes which ran horizontal at the top, I assume this is an easy mod or is the piping a lot different?
any help appreciated and I will keep the thread updated as I go along.

I'll be watching this with interest. Just about to make the final decision on my Fuse Box location as I come near the end of the rebuild. They does seem an awful lot of cables to route down the tunnel, and the more I look at the fuse box, the more I wonder if/how I will fit in the hole!

Threads like this and looking at the Chim Forum list of current Threads makes me reaaaaaaally wonder why I need to step out of my bland reliable Jap-mobile

Because if living life means a world of bland mediocrity and predictability then kill me now ...
My workmates all think I'm insane because I drove to and from work today with the roof off. (I left her with the soft cover over while it was raining and the weight of water gathering in the roof pulled the roof into the car and dumped the lake onto the "parcel shelf"...) The MD left in his Cayenne as I was getting into my Chim, wound the window down and asked if I wanted a wetsuit.

I drive to work roof down, leave it outside my office until one of the lads taps my window to say its raining, and he has lifted the hood up for me.....
Plus the ability to lower / raise at speeds up to 50 and from the drivers seat is mighty bloody handy, compared to how I understand a Chim roof works.
Yup - no fitting the roof at 50mph ... mainly because it's in the boot!Plus the ability to lower / raise at speeds up to 50 and from the drivers seat is mighty bloody handy, compared to how I understand a Chim roof works.
But on the upside I do now have b*ll*cks like space-hoppers...
