Pretty sure I'm in need of 2 new universal joints on the steering, well probably only the top one but it seems daft not to change them both while I've got my hands dirty.....
But idealy I'd like to try and avoid paying too much 'TVR Tax' wink
The best price I can find from the TVR specific suppliers is about £36 a piece which doesn't sound too bad until you do a bit of surfing and find the Land Rover parts at about £10 a piece. scratchchin

So the big question is are they the same?
I'm after TVR part numbers H0072 & H0073 but are these the same as Land Rover part number NRC7704 or NRC7387

Can't seem to find any cross references on the usual TVR pages but wondered if anyone else had worked this one out, currently waiting for some emails to be replied from a few Land Rover parts suppliers but if someone from the TVR world had already solved the part number cross reference issues then it's all good rotate

At the end of the day £80 for the TVR parts isn't going to break the bank but if I can keep £60 in my pocket and have the same items in a different bag then it's got to be a win....and every little helps. driving

This one or this one fit the earlier S Series cars, possibly the same scratchchin

Would be slightly more confident if it quoted the spline sizes, not sure how similar the Chim/Grif is to the S scratchchin
Might drop them a mail too, and not heard anything from the Land Rover Parts people yet. rolleyes

I was going to change the UJs when i had the rack done but according to CT TVR used two different spline sizes so could not order until I had it in bits

Had a reply from one of the Land Rover parts suppliers and it doesn't look good for avoiding the TVR
Tax, they have not gone into detail but I quoted the sizes of my bits, and they just said 'No, it's different'. frown

Isn't the steering column from a cavalier?

Cheers, I think that basically confirms the decision I was on the verge of, TVR bits it is then. wink
