It's amazing what a bit of rain and wind can do for fuel economy. Really crap weather on drive up to TVR Ecosse and back so taking it very easy. Actually thought fuel gauge was bust as didn't use nearly as much petrol as usual ! Worked it out and I got 31 mpg

31mpg - wow, good going in a 450. Just broke 26 (best i've seen) last wkend to Southwold and back, 2up + some daytrip crap in boot. Quite a hoony drive too, when i've tried to get a good figure in the past with grannyish driving style, no where near. Still can't figure out what circumstances give good mileage with this car. I'm well aware it's not what TIV driving is all about though.

I think the biggest improvement to fuel economy is when your on a motorway run and leave the roof on (hence the usual poor fuel economy!). If you drive 'Targa' on the motorway you can really feel the wind ripping into the back of the car and acting as a huge airbrake.
I put a full tank through my 450 last year in terrible weather over in Germany with the roof up and returned 29mpg (around 70mph all the way). This year we put a tank through at around 80 leptons on the way to Scotland with the top off and it returned around 25mpg.
One thing I know for sure is that I dont ever want to see such good economy again!!

When I did my 3k euro tour a few years I worked out an Average of 28 MPG out my 400 , It ran so well after that they really enjoy getting there legs stretched.

I'm usually in high teens for mpg

must admit though with the weather that day was prob sitting at a constant 60-65 and mainly motorway driving
