nearside rocker cover removal

Hi guys do ineed to remove the plenum in order to get the nearside rocker cover off or is there another more simple way

I recently had mine off and first tried to remove it without touching the plenum. I just couldn`t quite manage it because of the dip stick tube and i couldnt quite remove that as it began to foul on the exhaust manifold. In the end i just took the top of the plenum off. Its only 2 minutes.
