Front speakers - will these fit do you think?
Discussion
Afternoon all. I'll be the forst to admit I know absolutely feck all when it comes to audio. All this 2 way, 3 way business??! However, do you think this rangewww.alpine-europe.com/alpine/cms/details.php?t=112 of customisable Alpine speakers will fit the front speaker recesses? Many thanks Kev

You'll be pushing it with the 16cm ones, but like anything if you really want to fit them it can be done
the 13cm ones shouldn't be a problem, then you've got to mount the tweeters somewhere higher up and idealy pointing at your head
The other thing you've got to think about is depth, if it was me I'd pop the current one out and have a look if theres any depth issues, don't forget to wind the window down
then pop down your local ICE dealer and see what he's got, and what you like the sound/price of

I have Alpine DD 13cm units in mine, with separate tweeters. These are about 4 years old, and have blue cones, but probably aren't a mile way from some of those. They fit no problem, and sound great. I have Kenwood 7x10 rears and a Pioner KEH8400RW head driving two boot mounted Pioneer amps. The Pioneer head does a neat Front Enhance trick which effectively means I am using the 7x10's as subwoofers.
I'd pop the OE speakers out and measure the depth available and check that whatever you buy isn't going to get mashed first time you wind the windows down!

What's the advice about fitting 6x9s at the back Racer? Do I cut a bigger hole and make a spacer from MDF? At the moment I have 4 Pioneer speakers which were I guess fitted when the car was new 5 years ago, and I want to replace with some Infinitys I think. 6x9s at the back and 6 or 6 1/2 at the front, lots of dynamat and see how it sounds. Any tips or experience for those who have done it and what are the improvements likely to be?
By the way, the central grill thing I would agree with, as I refitted my rears without the air holes, which improved the sound but worsened the ventilation.
