The old rule with supercharging was it should add 50% over the normally aspirated figure.

Using that rule 392 bhp would mean the car needed to have started with 261 bhp before the supercharger.

It's certainly not beyond the realm of possibility to tune a 4.0 litre RV8 to 261 bhp.

So I would say 392 bhp from a supercharged 4.0 litre RV8 is achievable but you would certainly need to start with a very healthy engine in the first place.

It would be nice to see the supporting rolling road graph though.

Probably just an optimistic dyno, does seem a tad high - mines just above that out of a 450 which is about right with your rule!

Do you have to strengthen the engine block and drivetrain to take all of this extra power ?

Certainly possible wink

... but from the photo of that particular car's engine bay - that one won't be anywhere near that.

In fact, I'd be surprised if it was much over 300.

That was one of my conclusions, could also be a misprint.
Makes you wonder which of the three owners had the work done, if it was the first one then information could be mildly exaggerated by each owner in turn leaving the current owner with 392.
As Chimpofdarkness said, a rolling road graph would be nice.

The kit bolts on a fairly predictable amount of bhp; give colin a ring at sc power and he'll be able to give you the best idea as he designed and built the kit. He'll probably know the car too... Very worthwhile mod though, and works very well with the existing setup - I love mine smile

Got some details from the seller along with a Dyno Printout.

It was the seller who had the work done, and the Dyno printout is from Surrey Rolling Road dated September 2011 and it shows Max 392.2 hp.

The work was completed by SC Power.

I'm surprised it's chucking out that much power, given from the picture of the engine bay it appears to be still running 14CUX and Dizzy.

What does has me slightly confused though is that on SC Power's website there is this comment@

"Customers who later fitted the intercooler system with an aftermarket ECU have achieved 385BHP, not bad for a stock engined 4.0L!!!"

You'd have thought they would mention this car producing over 390 ???

The info has been passed onto a friend who's interested in a Supercharged Chimaera so best of luck to the seller if he reads this - certainly sounds worthy of a closer look.

According to the seller, apart from the Nitrons and SC kit

"No other mods except for the intercooler etc. for the supercharger and a clutch upgrade (to the 5 ltr)."

Maybe they was playing safe as you know what forums can be like rolleyes can you imagine how this could harm their rep if someone as this kit fitted then starts crying like a baby because its 7 BHP short biggrin you know how big PH's audience is for example eek

Don't think it is that, I'm pretty sure I know which car the 385bhp comment relates to.
