During the last few MOT's the garage reported a leaking rear shock and at the last one they said I'd need it changing before the next MOT or would fail.

I bought 2 rear shocks GP8-2285 which were delivered from Gazmatic, my question is:

Will my local garage be ok to fit these, are they straightforward? When searching the forum I see points about bushes and springs and then about set up adjustment. The shocks don't have springs and not sure about bushes.

Any advice before I take it to the garage for fitting and look foolish?

I don't think it's normal to fit the original springs to GAZ dampers. I would contact Derek at ABShocks and ask his advice, you'll probably have to buy a set of springs. Fitting is an easy DIY job, two bolts per side. You will need to borrow a set of spring conpressors to remove the old units

Go the whole hog, buy a matched set and do the fronts as well.

Get new springs, upgrade to 325/400 lbs, fit with new bolts and have a geo setup afterwards.

Don't be tempted to skip the 4 wheel alignment, 945 handles so much better since I gave him to a proper man (TVR expert) with the right equipment. If it's a quick job, then an expert will use his eyes while fitting them and change any other bits that look worn, and it won't cost you a lot for the labour. And your neighbours won't have to re-educatye their small children after you have spent all day on it and have removed three knuckles getting the old ones off.
