Just thought i would take a few pictures of my 255 tyres just to show they do fit while removing and checking the shock absorbers ,well on the off side .
There is plenty of gap from the tyre wall to the outrigger.

Good work Daz! Remember guys that a 255 tire is not just a 255 tire. Different makers have different width. Falken, Kuhmo, Nankang and other far east brands are actually narrower than for example Nokan... we have found that Dunlops are the widest. Found this out on my old car where I had Falken FK452 235/40-17, they cleared the wheelarch fine, when I changed to Nokian Hakka Z 235/40-17 they rubbed on the wheelarch (which I had to trim)

If you bought a Dunlop 255 tire you'd be in trouble I believe scratchchin

Thanks Ole looks nice in the sun ,Galaxy grey

Im going to have a look at the other side and take some pictures ,The main problem is the body or outriggers are not a mirror image to the other side, infact the outrigger in the near side is much closer to the wheel.

I spoke to a chassis builder who works for a well known TVR spewcialist in Sheffield and he said the fabrication quality in the factory was shocking ..he as seen some horrors.

35 off set ..The problem is the other side ,the outriggers are miles out !much closer then the off side..Think its common !

That is mega tight, Would not like to hit a fast dip with it that low. You could tear you exhaust off.

The shock absorber is not fitted ,I removed the shock absorber and let it drop slowly with the car jack just for to find if it clears.

I measured the travel in the shock absorber and if i set the ride height at 165mm from the jacking point its impossible for the car to sit that low so it can not hit the arch.

I went track-daying with 225/45 Yokohama 839s on 17 inch wheels on the rear, and the outside edges of the passenger side tyres kept catching on the wheel arches on right hand bends, less bad on left hand bends. Even worse with a passenger!
So it does depend as well on your wheel offset, I think.
I have now changed to 205/40 Yokohama Parada Spec 2s (the devil wears them, I believe), and they work well without catching. Wanted 215s, but the dealer I went to didn't have them.
