What is the 0-60 time on a 500

340 bhp (320 with Cat). 350lb/ft (320 with Cat) torque and 169 top speed.
Well we all know the BHP figures are a figment of PW's imagination but the figures obtained by Autocar in their Road Test of the Griffith 500 dated 27th Oct 1993 were a top speed of 161mph, 0-60 4.1, 0-100 in 10.2 and a 1/4 mile time of 12.8.V8 GRF said:

There's the other trick of having slightly non-standard parts in the press cars to get good numbers. Wasn't there a lot of discussion around what was in the press Cerbera for that reason? That Griff at least was untypical for production cars, allegedly being one of less than a dozen very early examples with a 234 cam (among some other top end 'refinements' probably). It kind of backfired on them as Autocar reported it was a pain to drive slowly as well as being a twitchy b*gg*r to drive in comparison with the 430 they drove a year prior to it.
I'd say 4.8 (Performance Car/Evo) would be a more realistic 0-60, although Top Gear didn't get any better than 5.1 in a 1997 Chim 500.
0-60s in mags are all over the place anyway, there's been some very quick (sub-5 seconds) 400s and slow 500s... A more repeatable yardstick would be 0-100 where the bigger engines would typically have a couple of aeconds on the base 400s.

Did once try it on dry, empty, NSL stretch. Didn't want to abuse the car but had to know. 1st gear launch, ton of wheelspin (bugger), held onto 2nd for 60 (all over bar the shouting by then), 5 sec flat. So if I'd launched in 2nd and grabbed 3rd at 45ish to keep in the torque band -what say low 4's? Std, low mile, '97 500.

Evo used to have it as 4.3 secs until they actually tested the 430 precat they featured. Then all of a sudden the 430 & 500 had 4.8 secs, with the 430 in bold (verified). Its all down to sticky tyres and perfect launch but i reckon a sorted 500 would do 4.3.EGB said:
I think SAGRIFF would beat Ferrari's and Tuscans over quarter mile with 280 bhp. Griff sits and launches well without wheel spin. Enough said. Will try to find Utube.

Theres a sprint there somewhere also beating a Tuscan. Enough, enough, enjoy.
If this doesen't work bu...er try Utube TVR Griffith v Ferrari F430 drag race.

Tuscan catches SAGRIFF only after 100mph+ End of sprinting now. Griff the winner. I'm bu....rd now!
