Help me spend a Grand!
Discussion
Alice (93 4.0 chim )Now stops nice and true with the spider wheel and brake upgrade BUT I now need a bit more grunt to compensate for my lack of talent in the tvrcc speed champs. Now I know everyone says don't waste money trying to make your car faster - just buy a more powerful model cos it will be cheaper in the long run - But I have become attached to Alice over the last 4 years and would like to spend a few bob on her to get a bit more grunt. Any ideas on what would get me the most bang for my buck?

Basically as I see it for a 4.0l £3K will buy you 25bhp for a full Mark Adams/Tim2Sheds job. Is it worth bothering if you add less than that bhp?
If I may quote Peter:

Budget roughly £100 per extra bhp, and you will get a rough idea of how far your cash will take you. That is excluding insurance hikes etc and also assuming the changes are small enough to avoid significant knock-on effects on the rest of the car. At the risk of sounding like a broken record (and a hypocrit), would you consider spending the money on driver training instead? Far more fun to do, won't have any adverse impact on reliability or insurance costs, and you can transfer it to any car you drive.
