I have just agreed to buy back my lovely Chimaera from an insurance company after the friend I sold it to spun it into a tree... Miss Notax is insisting I improve the safety of the car and I intend to fit a roll hoop and am considering changing the seats too as the standard ones don't seem to offer any whiplash protection. I have seen Tuscan seats fitted, are there any others I should consider? Any photos of alternative seats appreciated smile

i've got MX5 ones for mine, nice fit, use the original runners and they have speakers in the headrests smile.
Well i haven't fitted properly but should be doing that over the weekend.
photobucket seems to be playing up so can't put the pics on here, they are this style though

intatrim do a range of seats for lots of specialist manufacturers....nice chaps to deal with. local to me and ive used them before.

these work out to be no more than buying elise seats and getting them recovered, (unless you can find elise seats in good nick and a perfect match like i did!!).

MX5 seats also work, but i found they raised the seating position about 1.5 inches, which for me made my head just tough the roof....whereas the elise ones lower the seat position, even with the runners fitted

I don`t have a problem with standard seats but if you are very tall or you go on trackdays there solid type are a must.

There are alot more to choose from if you don`t like the rounded top..

There design is for safety and keeping you in the seat..

Thanks, some interesting options. I've owned both Mazda Eunos and Lotus Elise and whilst I found the Eunos seats comfy, the Elise ones nearly crippled me! The Eunos seats seem to fit well - I will look into how much retrimming would be. I am also very impressed with Silicone Kid's suggestion (although the price is plus vat so actually nearer £550) and would love to try one for size - but as I'm in Southampton it could be tricky...

My girlfriend has a Boxster, has anyone fitted those seats?

Interestingly that £425 apparently "Prices exclude Carriage & VAT at 17.5%"...

Sloppy websites always concern me a bit...

Brett, you'll have to let me know once the Mx seats are in and we'll talk about the original Tiv ones.

no worries mate will do, hopefully fingers crossed this weekend if this old lady trimmer finally fixes one of them - she's had them for 7 weeks now. No wonders she's so cheap.....

I used mx5 seats (2006 I think). They are a tight fit and as others have said will make you sit higher. I modified the runners to get a similar seat height to the originals. Much better support than the tatty old TVR ones and far more comfortable. Mine can even be heated.. if I could be bothered to wire them up.

Judging by the angle of the drivers seat back you must be young! wink

Nice early-ish Suzi in the background. 90’s?

Haha... nope, the photo might have been shortly after installation. I do get some squeaking from where the seat rubs against the rollover, but once your on the road the exhaust takes over.

Ref the bike...that’s a 2002 GSX 1400. Best bike in the world!
