Tvr Chimaera 4.0L V8 RHD (1996) (1996)

Hi all I am new to this site and was wondering about the car below does anyone know it or its history/condition I am in Edinburgh and wonder if its as good as looks in the classified, is it woirth a flight down and a drive back up North with the car as mine,, Any help would be appreciated, or any one knows of a really sound Chimaera with in my £7000 bracket,,,

I would also give Barry at TVR Ecosse (Dundee) a quick ring he usually has a good idea what is for sale or coning up for sale in Scotland and was really helpful when I was buying mine

I went to see this one when I was on the hunt - it's pretty clean - cam recently replaced (upgraded), and the chassis is in good nick too.
It was needing a new sensor (Air Flow?) when I looked at it last though, but they were prepared to supply and fit that.
I reckon if you went in with an offer in the region of your budget, they might just take it. As previously said - it's been on the market for a while.

I also had a look at the silver 400 about 18 months ago and out-riggers had been repaired...I think they've been replaced now.Seems expensive for what it is,was scratched on rear wings from targa top going in and out I recall and was a bit untidy for the money.
I traded the 500 into Wellside motors,had it a year and it just had a 12K service at TVR Ecosse,recon rad and a few small things attended to,can't recall it all.Had some wiring "repaired" after I bought it as dash died.Only fault I can think of was the wipers wouldn't park.
Got the all clear at TVR Ecosse and chassis was wax oiled regularly by previous owner who has a Land Rover repair and service business in Cumbria.
I traded it at £7500 so bear that in mind if you're interested and if I can help with any other info then just ask.

Hi Jimgunn thanlks for the post yea I asked about the car and the price is negotiable, it looks a tidy can an the colour I would like but the black leather interior is to dark, currently Im looking at 2 other Chimaeras in london area intending to fly down on Wednesday and see wot happens hopefully drive back home Hey we will see,,

No problem,colour schemes are a personal choice...I actually looked for a car that had a black interior as don't like the coloured dash.The LEVEN interior lifted it from all black.

Drive a few, it's by far the best way to get to understand them
If you've not driven one before, you'll not know what's good and what's not

Fwiw, that silver car's been up for sale for 18months as it's massively overpriced
7k should get you a good, clean 400 or maybe even a 400hc

I will soon have a 99 T reg Chimaera for sale in GTS Viper Blue. 92 000 miles, goes very well, and has a very nice sounding with an ACT exhaust. (Just back from a trip in France of 1250 miles).

It has a 12 month's TAX and MOT, but will need outriggers.

I won't be looking for silly money.

Don't know the car so this probably won't be of much help but the wheels, rear lights, front grill and gear knob are horrendous.
Lots of history from a W London specialist Indie but no mention as to who that is? Also no mention of the essential outrigger condition.

Kenny if you are using the email me function from PH this can sometimes go straight to spam box and not be noticed. It looks a good one though - may be pointing out the obvious as its been de catted you will need a TVR friendly mot man
